Maluku dalam konteks berbangsa di Indonesia sempat memosisikan diri sebagai the significant factor, faktor penentu yang menyumbang banyak intelektual dan pemikiran. Tercatat nama-nama seperti Patty, Latuharhary, Leimena, Siwabessy, Latumeten, Sitanala dan lain-lain. Sayangnya, peta intelektual Indonesia terakhir tidak lagi tercatat nama anak-anak Maluku.

Pengantar: Latar Multikultural Saya
Saya lahir dari keluarga guru yang hangat. Ayah saya tidak pernah menggunakan kata kasar dan tangannya tidak pernah menyakiti Ibu saya. Orang tua saya tidak pernah pelit untuk mengatakan kata sayang pada kami dan tidak sulit memberikan pujian. Meskipun begitu, kritik dan teguran yang membangun tetap deras mengalir dari bibir orang tua saya juga.
Saya besar di lingkungan Perkebunan Terbatas Pemerintah (PTP) dimana lingkungannya adalah lingkungan yang sangat heterogen. Teman-teman bermain saya bernama Atman, Surahman yang dari namanya menunjukkan identitas Jawa mereka. Saya juga punya teman sekolah yang bernama Jefri Tarigan, Paul Sirait yang Batak, Revol Sampe yang Menado, Anshar Lebang yang Makasar, Edi Lomo yang Toraja serta masih banyak teman lain dari Flores, Bali, Ternate dll.
Pengalaman hidup dalam lingkungan yang sangat majemuk ini mempermudah saya untuk memahami kemajemukan budaya. Pengalaman masa kecil yang majemuk tersebut juga mempermudah saya memahami konsep-konsep kemajemukan masyarakat yang dikenal dengan studi multikulturalitas.

On November 2007 I had been in Poso trained people on Peace Culture and other related topics . It was a nice journey as I could be able to meet people from all places in Poso both Christian and Muslim. Besides, I learned peacebuilding from people who are involved in the real terain.
